PapersParty Identification Dynamism (In-estabilidad Partidista)
This research delves into the dynamics of party identification (PID) among Mexican voters, challenging traditional views of the stability of this political identity. It posits that PID should be understood as a fluid concept influenced by a continual process of rational updating rather than a fixed characteristic. Employing advanced statistical models, including multinomial logit and the Mover-Stayer model, the study explores the elements that shape PID in Mexico, revealing its similarities to shifts seen in more established democratic contexts. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of how Mexican citizens navigate party affiliation during a pivotal time in their democratic development.
